As HIGH-TECH TENNIS Turns - July 28

Hello and thanks for reading! It's been another wonderful week in our world and we're happy to hit some of the highlights for you...

After six hot - and i do mean RED HOT - days at the B12 Super National Clay Court Championships in Winston-Salem, NC (including serious psycho tennis parent behavior on quarterfinal and semifinal days - BOOOOOO), it was home sweeeet home for us on Saturday night. Good thing Sunday was a day of rest because that's exactly what we did. Well, to be honest, that's what HALF of us did - I'm not naming names but it starts with a 'D' - and it involved a recliner (LOTS OF IT)...lolol.

Monday was the official start of our work week and it's a good thing...Customers are waiting for EIGHTY (80) Match Play DVDs and they're not known for their patience...Plus, you don't think those DVDs magically produce and distribute themselves, do you? :))) Danny thinks he does all the important work but we know better...I'm in charge of all the REALLY important stuff (accounting, database, banking, supplies, coordination, communication, to name just a few) so I stay busy all day, every day...I tried to fit everything in so I'd be free to perform my civic duty (which was supposed to start TODAY) but alas, my services were not needed on the jury. :(( People normally try to get OUT of serving jury duty but I was actually interested in (even excited about) it...Oh well, maybe next time.

We're looking forward to our video session at Sugar Creek Tennis Center tomorrow morning (yaaay for coaches named FRED, GREG, and JAMES) and then we've got a rare weekend off. We'd planned a Run/Roll tournament with Harlon Matthews but it has been cancelled - a big disappointment for us - hope it's rescheduled and soon. So I think we should pull our waverunner out of 3+ years of hibernation and head to the lake for some F-U-N! Doesn't that sound like a great idea?!?!? Thank you, as always, for your amazing support...It would not be possible for US to do what WE do if YOU didn't do what YOU do, lol. Check back next week and our cameras will be looking for you!

As HIGH-TECH TENNIS Turns - July 21

Welcome to your weekly installment of tales from our exciting life!!! We're happy to report that it's been another wonderful week in our world...hot hot HOT but wonderful...Bringing the video TO the players just ain't an easy job - but somebody's gotta do it - MIGHT AS WELL BE US!!!

For the 3rd consecutive year, we've been happy to be part of the National Clay Court Championships (B12)...AKA Clay Supernationals. This event was formerly held in Greensboro, NC and this was the first year in its new location: Winston-Salem, NC. Things are a little different in the new spot (and not necessarily for the better) but it works mostly just fine for us and we especially love coming to Winston because we get to stay/spend time with our sister and brother-in-law. They basically open their home to us and really spoil us with their hospitality...IT'S TOUGH TO BEAT!!! If only the USTA would schedule more events in Winston-Salem so we could take advantage of their generous generosity more often, LOL.

I experienced my first (but certainly not my last) DO NOTHING THURSDAY and it was FANTASTIC...I needed it sooooo badly and it was just GREAT. Alas, I had to be careful that it didn't turn into DO NOTHING FRIDAY :) and we hit the road for NC on Friday and check-in on Saturday. The tourney started last Sunday and will wrap up on this Saturday. We've had an incredibly $ucce$$ful time so far - and we've met lots of fun new friends from all over the nation. We might even treat when we connect with some NC friends on Saturday night and then it's home sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet home on Sunday. For someone who spends so much time on the road, you cannot imagine how much I love our home. It is paradise!!!

Thanks for reading and thanks, AS ALWAAAAYS, for your amazing support. It means the whole world to us. Check back next week for another exciting report, lolol.

As HIGH-TECH TENNIS Turns - July 14

Welcome to your weekly installment of tales from our exciting life! It has been another wonderful week and we're thrilled to tell you all about it - hope somebody's out there reading? LOL.

When we first started our business (5 short years ago), we ran into Luke Jensen ... Luke instantly GOT IT (refer to 'Coaches Who GET IT' thread on this blog). He invited us to tag along and do our video thing during a few "Day of Tennis with Luke Jensen" events (what a blast). One of those events took place waaay out in Carrollton at the Sunset Hills Country Club, where we met a nice guy named Michael Coleman...Long story short(er): Michael contacted us a few months back and invited us to participate in the Summer Sizzle Chps (which we did) because we had a free weekend and we thought it would be fun (which it was)...Hey, players, don't be snobby - Level 4 players need (VIDEO) love too, LOL. We had a great time (Fri/Sat/Sun) and we didn't even have to leave our state to do it! WOW-that's a switch!!! :)

Monday brought some excellent news: Our longtime customer and friend Jamie Hampton continued her very impressive summer run by winning the GrapeVine, TX 50K Challenger. YAAAY, Jamie! :))))) Remember you said you'd thank HIGH-TECH TENNIS when you hit the big time? Seems like it's happening and it sure makes us proud. Props to our friend, Coach Jason Parker, and thanks, as always, to our friend Trevor Short (Jamie's agent?) for believing in HIGH-TECH TENNIS!
Tuesday was another magnificent day - our last for the year - at the 2010 Bulldog Tennis Camp. Manny Diaz could not have been nicer (same for his entire staff) and we were thrilled to once again record stroke analysis videos (powered by Dartfish) for every single camper. Best of all, we got a personal tour through the NCAA Collegiate Hall of Fame by none other than Coach Dan Magill. If that name doesn't ring any bells (I'd never heard of Coach Magill OR Coach Diaz!), he was a longtime (40-year?) coach at UGA and, still looking mighty fine at 89, he was a real pleasure to meet. When I told him we'd be back in September for Southern Intercollegiate and we'd look for him, he said he hoped he'd still be around...SO DO WE!!!

WHEW...Sorry for the long report - we've been unbelievably busy this summer (what a good problem to have!!!) All the videos for all the exciting events don't just magically produce and distribute themselves, LOL, so I'm gonna stay up all night if that's what it takes because tomorrow is a very special day: DO NOTHING THURSDAY. Nothing, but NOTHING, is gonna stop this from happening. No phone, no blackberry, no computer, no nothing. I'm sleeping all day and the ONLY thing I'm planning to do is move from my bed to my hammock and back. LOLOL. Thanks for your amaaaazing support...Check back next week! :)

As HIGH-TECH TENNIS Turns - July 7

Welcome to your weekly installment of tales from our exciting life! I have ONE QUESTION: do your weeks fly by in what seems the blink of an eye?!? YES - I'm a poet and I know it...So anyway, I update this blog once a week but it feels like I update it every other day...BUSY = GOOD but wow - a day off would be a beautiful thing...Hey, NOBODY likes a whiner, LOL. Enough said.

So it's been another wonderful week...We continued the TENNIS CAMP theme by bringing the video to the Craig Jones Academy Tennis Camp on Wednesday. This was our 3rd (maybe 4th?) consecutive year at this camp, which has always been at the Darlington School in Rome, GA. This was its first year in its new location at Wesleyan College but the more things change, the more they stay the same: Coach Craig GETS it when it comes to tournaments and he also GETS it when it comes to tennis camp. GREAT THANKS to Coach Craig and to the players --- Think it's a coincidence that one of the nicest coaches in tennis attracts some of the nicest players in tennis? NO CHANCE.

We traveled to one of our FAVORITE cities in the southeast - CHATTANOOGA - on Friday for the National Open (12s). This was 3rd (maybe 4th?) consecutive year at this tournament too and what a pleasure it was!!! Coach Eric Voges is ALWAYS so kind and welcoming to us...and his sense of humor is HYSTERICALLY FUNNY. He's yet another coach who GETS it. Recording hilarious content of cute 12 year old players as they nervously introduced themselves and wished us a Happy 4th of July = PRICELESS. Hated to leave early (after the quarterfinals) but we had a hot date yesterday with a very TALL person at UGA...Maybe you've heard of him: JOHN ISNER. What a giant of a guy with a giant heart to match. Hard to believe he actually thanked US for being part of his 1st Annual John Isner Bulldog Tennis Camp, which of course prompted us to thank him for thanking us...No, really, thank you - no thank YOU...LOL.
Don't forget to check back next week for another exciting report about our thrilling life!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT SUPPORT and our cameras will be looking for YOU!!!

Roger's Choice: TENNIS or TWINS?

For those who know me, this goes without saying...For those who don't, here's my DISCLAIMER: Roger Federer is my favorite tennis player AND my favorite human being. Seriously. Nobody else even comes close. I fully admit I'm OBSESSED with RF and by posting this topic, I intend NO disrespect to he who must be respected ALWAYS. Also - the point of this topic is much bigger than the typical "Roger sucks" or "Nadal is #1" so if you want to share those type of comments, please take them elsewhere. K? K. Thanks.

SO.....We all see that Roger's struggling (sad but true) but I've been wondering WHY he's struggling. Is he getting too old? Now that he's accomplished everything and more, does he not "want" to win as much as he did? Or is it (as Danny thinks) much more simple than that: The reason Roger is not winning is because of THE KIDS.

This reminds me of my favorite lecture given by my favorite Penn State professor (seems like a million lifetimes ago but it's still so relevant): CHOICES. The class was a Western Civilization Literature or some such thing but the point that stuck with me was that ALL things cannot be Priority #1 in your life. By extension, I think my professor would say that Roger must CHOOSE his priority in his life...Is it TENNIS or is it his beautiful baby TWINS? Or is this a ridiculous question, lol. Hey - I'm no philosopher. Just a frustrated FED fan!

Now what do YOU think? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful responses and let's see if we can solve this all-important question! :)
